Creative Movement

 Step into the world of dance with this playful and exciting class designed for young movers! Perfect for ages 3-5, this session introduces the basics of creative movement and tap in a fun, supportive environment.

What to Expect:

  • Creative Movement: Build body awareness and self-expression through games, improvisation, and gentle stretches. Young dancers will explore rhythm, balance, and coordination while having a blast.
  • Tap Basics: Learn introductory tap steps like shuffles, toe taps, and heel digs, all set to lively, kid-friendly music that keeps little feet moving and spirits high.
  • Integrated Learning: Activities focus on growing strength, rhythm, and motor skills in ways that keep kids engaged and excited about dancing.

Whether your child loves bouncing to the beat or exploring creative ways to move, this class promises fun, giggles, and the foundation for a lifelong love of dance!

Intro to Tap and Jazz (Ages 5-7)

 

 This beginner-level class introduces young dancers to the vibrant energy of tap and jazz! Students will learn basic tap steps like shuffles, heel digs, and toe taps, paired with simple jazz techniques focusing on posture, rhythm, and stage presence. Fun games and lively choreography encourage coordination and musicality, setting a strong foundation for future dance learning.

  • Pink Ballet Shoes or Tan Jazz Shoes
  • Optional Dance Skirt, Black Pants, or Shorts can be worn over leotard

Tap/Jazz Foundations(Ages 7-10)

  At this intermediate level, dancers build upon their foundational skills with more dynamic and complex combinations. Tap sequences will include simple syncopation and transitions, while jazz elements will focus on smooth leaps, turns, and fluid floor patterns. Emphasis is placed on connecting movements, working as a group, and cultivating stage confidence.

Tap and Jazz Performance Skills (Ages 10+)

 Designed for older dancers ready for a challenge, this class explores intricate tap rhythms and layered jazz choreography. Dancers will refine their footwork and rhythm while developing artistry and expressive performance skills.

  •  Tan Jazz Shoes
  • Optional Dance Skirt, Black Pants, or Shorts can be worn over leotard

Primary Tap/Jazz (Ages 5-7)

 

This energetic and engaging class introduces young dancers to the fundamentals of tap and jazz in a fun, supportive environment.

Students will explore basic tap technique, developing rhythm, coordination, and musicality through exciting exercises and combinations. They will also begin learning foundational jazz movements, focusing on dynamic footwork, body alignment, and expressive movement.

Through interactive games and choreography, dancers will enhance their confidence, creativity, and ability to follow patterns in both styles. This class prepares students to enter the Level One classes.

Tap 1


  Tap 1 is a delightful introduction to the world of rhythm and movement. In these classes, young dancers learn basic steps such as ball heels, shuffles, and flaps, which lay the foundation for more complex routines. The focus is on developing timing, musicality, and coordination in a fun, supportive environment. Classes typically include a warm-up, skill-building exercises across the floor, and a combination of steps practiced in the center of the room. It's a place where children can express themselves through dance and begin to understand the joy of tap dancing. 


Dress Code:  

  • Black Mary Jane Tap Shoes  or Black Slip-On Tap Shoe
  • Leotards, shorts, dance pants, and a T-shirt are all suitable options for dance attire.


Tap 2/3

 Students will be introduced to tap dance technique and terminology as they build their skills in musicality, sound clarity, speed and style. Tappers can expect to learn double and triple time steps, 3&5 beat riffs, turns, and intricate rhythms. 


Dress Code: Black Slip-On Tap Shoes

  • Leotards, shorts, dance pants, and a T-shirt are all suitable options for dance attire.


Tap 4/5

 This class is for students who have a good knowledge of all tap dance vocabulary. Students are introduced to more advanced concepts such as musicality, improvisation, more complex 

combinations, use of space and choreography. Students gradually develop speed, clarity, and understanding of time and tempo.

Black Tights, Pants, or Shorts Allowed over Leotard (Royal Blue)


Jazz 1

 Jazz 1 is a beginner-level dance class designed to introduce students to the vibrant world of jazz dance. This course covers fundamental techniques, including basic steps, rhythms, and stylizations that form the foundation of jazz dance. Students will explore movement quality, musicality, and expression, all within a supportive and energetic environment. By the end of the class, participants will have a solid understanding of jazz dance basics, ready to groove with confidence and flair.

  • Leotards, shorts, dance pants, and a T-shirt are all suitable options for dance attire.



Jazz 2/3

 Jazz 2 and 3 focus on learning jazz dance terminology and technique while exploring assorted styles including classical jazz, musical theater, jazz funk, and lyrical/contemporary. The class warm-up and progressions will develop musicality, athleticism, alignment, and coordination in students, which supports healthy growth across other dance styles. 


Dress Code:

  • Leotards, shorts, dance pants, and a T-shirt are all suitable options for dance attire.




Jazz 4/5

 Levels 4 and 5 Jazz will give students a thorough grounding in jazz dance terminology and technique while giving them an opportunity to grow as performers. Students will use this technical base to explore a variety of jazz styles, including classical, musical theater, jazz funk and lyrical/contemporary.
